Doing our bit: how we are an ethical and sustainable jewellery brand
We pride ourselves on being an ethical and sustainable brand. We care about what we are doing, and how we are doing it.
We wanted to share with you ways in which Valgy is an ethical and sustainable brand. We believe in slow fashion. It is a pillar in our business, and one that we will continually work towards.
Small batch collections
Our pieces are made in small batch runs. This means we don’t have excess amounts of stock. It also means that you are one of a small number of people who own a specific Valgy design.
Consciously designed
We live in a world dominated by consumerism. We design pieces that we love, and have meaning. We stay away from fast fashion trends, and design pieces that are unique, classic and timeless. Themes such as heritage, art and nature influence our designs. We really think and care about what we are brining into this world.
Knowing our manufacturer
Our founder travelled to Indonesia and interviewed five manufactures before settling on the one. It was paramount to find a manufacturer who shared our values and goals. Mostly women run, we are proud to say we know the people who make our jewellery, and we’ve seen the benches they are made on.
Using high quality materials
We want to produce beautiful jewellery that lasts. Our pieces are made from high quality materials such as sterling silver, natural gemstones and 24 karat Italian gold plate. Our pieces are not intended to be worn for a season, but rather enjoyed for many seasons to come.
limiting packaging
We believe less is more. When you order multiple pieces your jewels will be packaged in one box. If you are ordering multiple pieces for multiple people you have the option to request more boxes.
We also use recyclable mailbags to post our pieces in.
Cruelty free
At no point in our manufacturing process do we use animal by-products.
Open to evolving and doing more
We are constantly seeking to evolve, learn and do more. We know that we are just at the beginning of our journey, and will always look for new ways to evolve our ethical and sustainable practices.
